Located just south of Falls Park, the Greenville County Square redevelopment offers a unique opportunity to create a vibrant extension to downtown Greenville that will revitalise this strategic urban quarter. The new masterplan, being developed by RocaPoint Partners, aims to draw the urban grain from downtown through the site, creating a natural link between the Falls Park and the new Cancer Survivor’s Park and the Swamp Rabbit Trail.
The central focus of the new masterplan is the new home for Greenville County, located along the at the corner of Church Street and University Ridge, which will be the cornerstone of the community, drawing people to the site. Evoking the natural beauty of Falls Park, the project features a large public area with a fountain, landscaping and the relocation of the Veterans Memorial wall . The building opens up to the landscape, creating a unique atrium space between the two office blocks that will be flooded with natural daylight.
The atrium is designed as a space for the people of Greenville County that symbolises a sense of transparency between the citizens and local government. Cafes and restaurants will activate the plaza, serving both the office workers and visitors alike.
The roof overhang with its sharp, crisp edges accentuates both the form of both buildings as well as the pivotal location, providing stunning, 360-degree views across downtown Greenville and the mountains beyond.
