Luis studied in Oxford and Washington, D.C., and had won several competitions as a young architect, receiving an RIBA award. He joined Foster + Partners in 1995 and his early work includes Canary Wharf Station and Florence High-speed Rail. He was made Partner in 2006 and leads projects in America, Asia, the Middle East and Europe. He specialises in sustainable masterplans, including those for Milan, Portugal, Croatia, Singapore and Masdar City. Luis has been teaching at Nottingham University since 2005.
