Austin Relton is Head of Technical Design, leading Foster + Partners’ Technical Design Group, which reviews projects in the pre-construction stages to maintain and improve technical design standards. Austin joined the practice in 1993 after studying at the University of Edinburgh, initially working on the Imperial College London masterplan and the delivery of the Sage Gateshead before relocating to in 2008 to oversee our office in Abu Dhabi, with responsibility for the quality of delivery on all projects in the Middle East. Austin returned to our London studio in 2021 on his promotion to Head of Technical Design.
